Crescent Moon and Venus over Sydney

My son Jacob and I went to Sydney Observatory on Saturday night to watch the Phil Plait talk, "Death from the Skies".

After the talk, we took some photos of the beautiful Crescent Moon and Venus in the west. Jacob was my model for the first one.

For the first two, Canon 6D, 24-105mm lens, ISO1000, f/7.1, 5s exposures.
For the last one, Canon 6D, 200mm, ISO5000, f/7.1, 1s exposure.

- Large 1
- Large 2
- Large 3

Thanks

Hi Mike

An excellent set. #3 does if for me, the Earthshine is gorgeous. ISO5000 is looking quite impressive!

Cheers

The best thing about these pics is that you've got your son involved.I took my young bloke out the other night and he shot some nightscapes and saw a fireball.Beats x box hands down.
Cheers

Thanks Larry and Derek.

You're absolutely right, Derek. He had a ball. He wants to take Visual arts in year 9 next year to do photography.

He kept bumping the tripod but I'm sure he'll improve
