2x12 in 3x3

Well it can be done. After replacing the RA drive in my 12inch LX200ACF I had to test the scope out so I set it up next to the trusted 12inch LX200R (same optics, Mexican & USA assembled) in my 3x3 observatory. I had both imaging for supernova at the same time last night. Even with my small control room under roof of my 3x3 there was still enough room (just) to run the LX200R with a dew shield on a pier and the LX200ACF without a dew shield on its tripod & no chance of them banging into each other.
The ACF is the Leyburn weekend scope and the R is permanent in the observatory. They each have Moonlite focusers and Optec F7 & F6.2 reducers with a Starlight Xpress SXVH9 & SXVHR9.

Yup, I am back to being a regular Leyburnite each month. I look forward to catching up with you, will be there in April. Was there last weekend and Saturday cleared for about 5 hours..

Hi Josh hope you are well.
The ACF has been a problem in RA tracking even over 25 seconds. I hadn't done anything with it as the R is near perfect and the weather has been lousy. Sent it down to Don at Bintel and he found the RA worm bearing had collapsed internally, probably like that from the factory. Anyways he put a new worm in but tracking still not up to standard of the R for 20-30second images, so I decided to put new RA motor in. Still having some issues in getting the adjustment right to get rid of excess backlash, so a work in progress. The optics of this scope are very good.

Thanks Peter,
Hope your well also.
Im sorry to hear you had those issues with the scope, maybe like that from the factory . i wish you the best in getting it sorted. Im glad the optics are what you came to expect.
Ive just got my gear sorted and started to capture some time on an object, so when this weather clears, i can get an image up.

Clear skies
Josh
