Earthquake!

Ian (gaa-ian),

Hope all is well. Just heard report that a 7.2 earthquake has hit your area about 20 minutes ago.

Please let us know that you are O.K.

Just heard that myself on the news. Just some evacuations from what they are saying on the news.

SkyNews saying Darwin City seems O.K. but they are worried about the outlying areas as they cannot get any info from out there.

Ian lives 'out there' somewhere.

Heard it on the news this morning.. the quake was in the sea off the coast of east timor somewhere.. no tsunami risk though, thankfully.

I didn't hear any reports of damage, just a lot of rumblings.

Did you feel it Ian?

Probably an after shock from the Boxing Day quake. All the zone of subduction will move into position now and start to take up stress again. Part and parcel of living on the boundary of two plates.

All is OK up here ... some people in town here felt the tremor, curtains moving, water in the fishtank shaking, etc
Others did not notice it at all (myself included)
The reports as usual were exageratted in the news media.
We experience a tremor up here every few years.
Nice of you to think of me
