ImagesPlus 3.82 vs 5.xx
I found my old ImagesPlus 3.82 disk and installed it today to deal with stacking some images that DSS just won't do (they still turn out grey no matter what I do!).
I looked on the IP site and they're up to v5.x now, but the upgrade is $159!
Very expensive.
Is it worth it?

Get Pixinsight.
Its a pain at first... but its the juice when you work it out.

+1 for Pixinsight its about he same cost and updates are free. But IP has Image Capture tools which I don't believe PI has yet, though there was talk of some users developing this. As I have Nebulosity for Capture I settled on PI, after looking at IP and AstroArt.
Suggest you grab the PI trial and give it a go. Some say its quirky to learn but personally i found with the video tutorials it was fairly easy and intuitive. YMMV

Another vote for Nebulosity + PixInsight.
PI is difficult in places, in others you just need to change your mindset a bit and it all makes sense.
But it has the power tools that nothing else does. I'd recommend it.

I have IP4.5 (I think), and while it's nice, I am constantly annoyed at having to upgrade just to use a newer camera. Initially I got Mike Unsold to add the Sony a700 to the list of cameras, which he did, then I got the NEX, so he did that as well, but it cost me the upgrade. Now I have the Fuji, I'd love to be able to use that, but I am too tight to go the upgrade way yet again.
Great program, but I won't be springing for any more updates, instead I'll try something else, Pixinsight being one of them.
