Thanks for that link.

I was always puzzled by the notion that he went blind looking at the sun - if it had been the case, it should have been straight away and in one eye. And also he used a concave eyepiece lens that didn't focuse to a point like convex lenses do.

I've seen his telescopes on display in Florence, together with some of his fingers, where his middle finger appears to be giving a rude gesture.
