Trying to understand the editing process of astrophotography. I took some 30 second subs last night for only about 50mins to produce a nice washed out shot in DSS
When I see the histogram in DSS, it looks as follows (DSS)
The histogram looks fairly centred, albeit I don't have values on the X axis to verify.

So when I view the TIF file in FastStone Image Viewer, I get a histogram with values that looks as follows. Most of the data in the image sits between 64 and 128.

But then I load it into Photoshop, open up Curves and suddenly the data is now below 64 (you can run your mouse over the Y lines to get the values.. the first line is indeed 64).

Can anyone explain why Photoshop loads a histogram differently to the other two programs?
(ignore the difference in file name in DSS, it's the same image, I just had to copy it to open it again in PS as I was already editing it)
