Thanks Leon, I'd rather not have to rush things because looking up at the sky wondering if it's even worth setting up the scope and hoping the clouds will stay away long enough, is not good for the anxiety!

The 6” newt is a superb scope , a great all rounder and never lets you down
I’d like to see more beginners try 6” newts ( f5 or f6) rather than opt the popular ED80 etc.... I think collimation scares them off a bit plus the fact it’s a physically bigger OTA and balancing can be a little bit more tricky. They also double up as a great visual scope as well
I’ve had my 6” f6 newt for 4years now, she’s a bit banged around but still does a superb job

You're right Martin, I'm using this more than the 8 inch as it's lighter and works better on the HEQ5, balancing the rig is more difficult with the Newt but it's 750mm focal length is a good size. With the small chip of the Asi120, the FOV is cropped and it's great for smaller objects such as galaxies and planetary nebulae.

Thanks Jon, well I am having fun with the mono, just wish these clouds would go away and give me a chance to capture more data. A cooled mono is a fair way down the track (we'll see what the Taxman can put into my bank account this year!
), besides, it's getting cold enough now not to worry about warm sensors.
