I attach a mirrorless camera to the back of the tilt/tip which has a T-ring adapter screwed onto it.

For the Sony mirrorless there is an adapter that is longish - about 35mm long. For the Canon its quite small at about 15mm.

What you need for a specific camera would be different to the above as I haven't used one of those types of cameras.

I did use my FLI Microline and filter wheel which is about 35mm plus the adapters. The Microline sensor is about 15mm below the surface of the front of the camera.

The Canon sensor is about 18mm and the Sony is similar. But the EOS R requires an RF to EF lens adapter which is about 35mm long.

So yes you probably would need that spacer.
