I’d add a few comments on the C9.25:
- Mirror shift can be greatly reduced by adding a Feathertouch 10:1 fine focuser
- Adding a Meade electronic focuser plus a JMI USB / serial connector than makes it possible to focus this from a PC control (locally or remotely)
- Mine holds collimination very well – suggest grab a CCD Inspector v2.0 one month trial and you can pretty much nail collimination in one hit.
- The CG5 rail that holds this OTA is to flimsy – use a CGE or Losmandy C9.25 rail into a Losmandy Tak D dovetail plate for best results
- Better (larger) guide scope is recommended – Andrews sold me a 2” 7 times magnication GSO guidescope that has been brilliant and simplicity to attach
- The Carbon fibre version of this OTA holds razor sharp focus over huge temperature changes – between Summer / Winter I rarely have to re-focus.
- When I do want to re-focus a photocopied Bhatinov Mask onto A3 transparency makes finding perfect focus a very quick and precise job!
