Just to give a quick update (following on from and expanding the discussion over in my 'M8' post).
I have the following software to hand:
- Stellarium (love it - great for finding targets)
- A test installation of Kstars / Ekos on my Mac to get my head around it
- A test Linux virtual machine with Kstars / Ekos (again, for testing)
And the following hardware that's not mentioned above:
- A guide scope & guide camera are on their way
- QHY PoleMaster
- I MIGHT be able to borrow the finder scope off my girlfriend's telescope (didn't think of it until just now...)
I'm hopeful that all my current frustration will disappear when I get a laptop and can then use Kstars / Ekos / PoleMaster to get the alignment right and really start having fun.
Again, thanks to everyone who's offered support and advice - I greatly appreciate it.
