That looks like a DC 2.5mm socket. Take it to Jaycar or Dicksmith and test it against either a 2.5mm, 3mm or 2.1 mm plug.
Then use a plug pack with around 1.0 amp minimum and voltage either 6V or 7V, usually from a multiselector plugpack.
