20220602 Call for Pluto observations

Hey all,

A plane load of professional observers are heading over to the NT to observe Pluto occulting a 13th magnitude star in the early hours of Thursday the 2nd of June.

The scientific payload of the event is enormous as well placed observers will be able to capture data capable of fine tuning Plutos atmospheric models.

As such 12 telescopes (10 x 16" Skywatchers and a couple of Hubble optics big guns) have been shipped to Australia and will be staffed by traveling scientists, locals and Oz based regular Occultation observers, myself included, who are flying out to be part of the adventure.

I've attached an approximate map of the path, the grey line is the centre line and if you are within the green lines, your data could be very valuable. If you lie between the green and blue lines, it’s still useful data if you can capture it.

What do you need? A reasonably large instrument, tracked, and a monochrome camera. What do you get in return? Kudous
