G'day Jamie,
My Synscan uses an RJ-11 plug to a DB9. The connections are:
RJ-11 1 = NC
2 = RD to DB9 #2
3 = GND to #5
4 = NC
5 = TD to #3
6 = NC

Hope this is of some help. (From Skywatcher manual)
