Yes the reducer needs the correct spacing. The spacing distance is usually specified for a particular reducer. Do you know what it is for this reducer?

Its called metal back distance which is the distance from the sensor to the end of the metal casing (not including the thread) of the reducer.

You can get variable spacing adapters so you can trial and error it and move the spacer within a range of movement. Teleskop Services sells some.
