Nice size quake, USGC is currently listing at 5.8 38k south of Mount Buller at a depth of 10k. So fairly shallow.
The South Sandwich Islands went off last month, a day or two before the big one in Haiti last month. South Sandwich Islands registered an 8.1, 7.5 (7.1 later in the month) in the 48hours prior to Haiti.
658 4.5+ quakes for the South Sandwich Islands last month, the world register 1251 4.5+ for the month of August. In July the world registered 602 earthquakes at 4.5+. For such a small chain of islands that place must have been humming last month.
