Bad, as in damage to the eye? I have used a 12.5" on full moons without problems, although I had some novices concerned about their loss of night vision for a few minutes. One even thought that the affect was going to be permanent. (Ha, ha, it wasn't off course.)
Or bad, as in more detail seen with a filter? I feel that I see more detail with a blue filter, but normally don't bother.
