While the the new STX cameras will not be cheap, the have a range of features that will be very hard to beat eg.

50 degree delta T
USB and Ethernet
fast download
multiple guiding modes
Argon purged chambers
multiple chip options

SBIG have given no indication of pricing, but I would expect it to be in the STL range...and higher for the big back-illuminated chips.

Interestingly this is the first time SBIG have gone for (Marconi) back-illuminated chips. With +94% QE + self guide and adaptive optics I'd expect these babies to be real photon magnets.

The new, stand alone guider I would not expect until the 2nd half of '08...but I expect to get up to Santa Barbara in the next couple of months and will find out first hand what the current state of play is.
