I can back up that support for the 8" F5 Newt Martin. It was my goto visual and AP scope for 5 years and even after long road trips never seemed to need a tweak.
Think this size and FR is a sweet spot for the metal tube Newts. Any bigger and you risk issues with tube sagging/movement and surprisingly less portable (10" almost twice the weight). A well tuned Newt can be a lot faster gathering data versus same size RC and heck of a lot easier to collimate (from what I've read). Maybe not quite a the same resolution on smaller targets, but we're generally seeing limited on the East coast anyhow.
