I found that having the metal bar up against the hard plastic of the camera body, didn't make for a firm connection at all. It doesn't take much for the camera to skid around on the dovetail at certain angles.
My solution was to blu tack a piece of soft plastic onto the bar so the camera sits firm and snug.
It's not very elegant, but who cares, so long as it works.
