I will be brave and say the canon is the better camera, but value for money - which is in the pentax's court. Mine will really be getting an astro workout in a little over a week.

As for chip size, don't know. They are different chips, one is a ccd the other cmos type. The canon is a little more pixels. A remote switch is $79, and it is compatible with any auto k-mount lens out there! Why heck you could be a complete capitalist and have two, one for broad astro shots for meteors shots and the other for specific imaging
