New Region 2955 has a medium sized spot that is distorted into a long streak, as it is very close to the North-Eastern Limb.
Region 2954 is nearby, having appeared past the Limb a day earlier. With magnification (50x), I could see the 'Wilson effect' on the umbra of this medium-sized spot. This is when the umbra is smaller on the side closest to the Sun's Centre, compared with the umbra closest to the Limb. My understanding is that spot & umbra are depressions in the Photosphere and thus the umbra is viewed at different angles by observers.
I also looked for the Wilson effect in R2955, but could not see it.
In the Northern-Central area, Region 2953 is a collection of one small, and five tiny spots.
Southern Region 2952 still has just the one small spot.
