Ha is scary isn't it - basic rule seems to be "as long as you can" regardless which camera and scope.
minor point, the targetADU is the raw signal including bias (the method was designed so that you could just look at a signal straight off the camera with no processing). If your dark cal removes the bias, you need to add it back in - or maybe not do the dark cal in the first place.
