This exact design was made for Meade and Astro-Tech using Japan Hoya FCD-01 which is marginally better that FPL-51
The longer focal length made this glass perform exceptionally well against FPL-53 with better temperature characteristics than FPL-53.
I use a TS-Optics 0.8 Reducer for both of my refractors. This gets the MEADE to F6 with great results with Narrowband or LRGB or OSC.
I swapped my standard 11 Inch SCT for this on IIS and still consider it a worthy upgrade. The guy used this scope for visual only and it is approx 2011.
