The problem for me has been the same. There are so many 8300 based imagers, I am not exactly sure what sets them apart. I think the cooling is one aspect. The ATIK 383L is set to arrive shortly as well.
Also the small pixel size of the 8300 has put me off a little. Binning 2x2 may be the answer but I am not sure it is the perfect answer as the full well depth on this chip is not huge either.
I suppose there has to be some compromise somewhere.
