I simply turn the display light down and when I set something imaging I partically close the lid (not all the way of course). I also have simply put a cloth or similar over it if I wanted to reduce the light glow.

Now I use a dedicated computer and I simply switch the display off when I leave the observatory.

You can also set screen shutter to on if you are using CCDsoft and that makes the screen go black whilst the shutter is open.

I also set the screen to night vision mode using The Sky or the Chuck Faranda Temma driver for Takahashi mounts.
