iOptron MiniTower For Parts - $180 - offers...

Do you have an iOptron MiniTower and want some spare parts?

My well used MiniTower wants to still be useful somewhere!

I set it up today to take some photos ready to advertise it for sale. I had run it over the last few days making sure it was slewing and tracking Ok as I had some problems a few months ago (see below).. and decided for one last photo I should plug the controller in to show the version number, then proceeded to drop the controller and smash the LCD… !

So now I am selling it for parts… pick up only due to weight - unless someone wants just the mount without tripod or the counterweights…

Full Disclosure. I had this mount in storage for a couple of years and got it out again late last year after we moved to Gippsland. It had an intermittent fault of randomly slewing to some new location after half an hour or so of use. I did so troubleshoot and ordered a replacement board from the USA. The was sent, while iOptron assured me was for a MiniTower (not pro) did not function properly, rotating through only 70% of the angle it was meant to (I.e. when told to do a full 360 it only went about 300).. returned that part to the US, and after so more to and fro I put the original board back in a while ago and it seemed to be working just fine - no random slewing anymore…. But I wasn’t entirely confident it was fixed and so picked up another second hand mount. Until I smashed the controller screen today, it seemed to still be working OK…. But probably best to just say it is usable only for parts.
