Oh it was awesome, actually the observing field was littered with 20"+ sized big Dobs, including several in the 25" - 32"range ...t'was amazing. M51 particularly, blew me away through some of these big light buckets. Actually, M51 is pretty easily the best looking galaxy visually through a scope IMO, you can comfortably make out the spiral structure in an 8" scope! Wish we had one like that down here
...closest we probably have, in terms of ease of discerning spiral structure, is maybe NGC 1365..? but no such face on classic spiral
