As Merlin says above,we are waiting for the next solar cycle to kick in,then you will see what are called facula,white markings on the suns surface!
Faculae are the precursor to the appearance of sunspots.
Other than that white light filters don't give you any further detail.
Fingers crossed for some good sunspots this time around.
