OK there's some good news about the black dot problem.

Even though some people have tried the 5D MkII with a work-around by switching Highlight Tone Priority off along with other settings, the problem still surfaces in some situations.

Now, some 5D MkII users have complained to Canon and Canon has acknowledged it and is working on a fix.
