Did you ever have the output image?
You can try and load the autosave into DSS after starting it from fresh (maybe you have memory issue?) and after it's displayed, you are supposed to "save as" 16 bit *.tiff format, for further processing (in DPP, for example, if you have Canon camera).
Also, it is possible to load autosave into PS (some people claim this approach is more close to reality (less data loss), which I personally doubt it is the case)
