29/06/2013 Aurora

This was the most awe inspiring thing I have ever seen.
All afternoon I was checking the levels and seeing a Kp of 7 got me exited, but looking out the window all i saw was cloud.
At 5:30pm I decided to go Aurora hunting, i got my dad to give me a lift down to our local beach, which faces south and set up a chair. I had not expectations to see anything, i just wanted to get out of the house for a while.
The sun had just set and it was 6:35pm when this massive light shot through the sky clearly visible to the eye, it lit up the ground around me like a full moon.

I'm still still processing most of the photos but here is a few for now.

The Aurora was so bright i had to turn down the shutter speed or they were over exposed.

The first photo: f/3.5, "20 second, ISO-3200, WB-3200, 18mm.

The Second photo was after the blue wave and showed a lot more red and clear collums.
f/3.5, "13 second, ISO-3200, WB-3200, 18mm.

My lens couldn't even get the whole thing in, it was so big! I am saving for a Samyang 14mm and hopefully i will see this size again so next time I can get more in the frame.
