Summoning's new album (number 7), 7 years in the making.
The only way to describe this Austrian duo (Protector and Silenius) is spellbindingly epic.
Their music is based on and inspired by the writings of Tolkien. At least one of their tracks (Mirdautus Vras) has been performed in the dark language of Mordor.
While I'm still warming to the new album, here's a little bit of magic:
The Wandering Fire (Old Morning's Dawn, 2013).
And, some classic Summoning:
Land of the Dead (Oath Bound, 2006).
Arguably the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Protector's screech is phenomenal. And, that flute!
The bombastic, rhythmic and processional music would have fit well in the Lord of the Rings movies.
Where Hope and Daylight Die (Stronghold, 1999).
Utterly beautiful.
Music to listen to while coding or trudging through beautiful alpine forests.
I hope someone else "gets" the beauty.
