I bought a pair of Bushmaster 12x50's and returned them after a week. ( I was told that air bubbles in the glass won't effect the view, and what was I doing using them for astronomy anyway, here buy one of our 60mm refractors instead )
I had a bit of a fight to get my money back.
Go with a reputable brand and buy from an optics dealer, not a camera shop, so you can get good back up service.
