I don't spend as much time on doubles as I'd like so you've inspired me to have a go at alpha crux. i do, however, enjoy a good glob cluster so I'll also swing over to NGC 4833. luckily it's 7th mag and only 1 degree away from D muscae... so shouldn't prove too hard to find.
Let's hope the weather's kind to me.
I'm actually starting to get into the whole double star thing. I accidentally chanced upon sigma orionis (double double) the other night. fantastic. And what surprised me from my reading up is the actual number of stars which are in fact multiple systems. Quite mind blowing.
I just love the colour differences too. I've used the Goto on the Synscan in Tour mode and it's taken me to some lovely blue/orange combos.
It really is quite interesting and helps vary the viewing experience.
