I was hoping to keep the focuser and scope intact as much as possible.
A 10:1 would be an upgrade, but the current one still serves it's purpose.
Bad design hey, seems to be the case. There's certainly nothing wrong with the barlow. I did buy the 2" barlow for the photography side of things also, so a little bit more unwilling to ditch for a 1.25" version than I am with the 2" eyepiece.
