What have I done.

Carrying on from the motorbike thread, I ended up with a 1986 K100RS and the boy got a 2013 F800R, both BMW's. I did a fluid/filter/plug change on mine as I was told it had been sitting for a couple of years.

We did a run last Sunday out through harley country in the brisbane valley, around the dams to pmrid's place to pick up some bits and back across Mt Glorious through cafe racer territory and back into town. About 400Kms.

On the fast sweeping bends in the valley mine was wallowing, not secure at all. I thought the boy was having trouble keeping up but later learned he had to run in 4th gear out of 6 to match my power band

This week the rear shock has gone for a rebuild, it is an untouched original 1986 shock I pulled the arse end and gearbox out to lube the drive splines. Yuk, cracked boot behind the gearbox, leaky main seal in front of it, goop everywhere. It took a lot of effort to get all the bits out and then clean the crap off. But it has to be done. There's another couple o hundred in parts from the UK.

I've since been chatting to a guy in the UK who restores these bikes and just have a look at what a brass brush on a slow drill and WD40 does to alloy. Amazing.
