Pay per use is fine as long as it is pay per use. Most vendors like Adobe seem to have a rental agreement, you pay us each month to put the software on your device regardless of whether you use it or not.
If they have a model where I can buy 1 month and that's all then that's great, but I can tell you they will want your credit card up front, bill you each month and make it too hard for you to revoke it.
