Yes you need an OCa or optical corrector/glass path compensator.
Newts are the worst when it comes to binoviewers which is unfortunate.
I would start by getting longer bolts for the mirror at the bottom of the tube to push up the mirror to help you a bit

What brand of binoviewer do you have.
William optics make 1.6x & 2.0 OCA
Siebert makes the most sizes, and ones especicially for newest (he's in US)
Baader make 1.25x(forgot it for newts) 1.7x 2.25x
tV make a 2.0x
You'll need a higher mag one unless you move the mirror up the tube (up to 5cm is good)-else get a Siebert one -Nb he is a one man business so makes the item when he gets an order, the stuff has a home made finish but his products I had aree of good quality.

In the meantime if you have a Barlow it might help you get close to focus-you can try it
