There are ignoramouses and extremists on both sides of the debate and rational argument is impossible with either. This interviewee is always going to be for selling guns on lemonade stands. Arguing with him is just being done for our viewing pleasure. Real debate on the topic is difficult and polarising because it can be, and is often deliberately made to be, so emotive.
I
t's also important for us Aussies to realise that our culture and psyche is not the same as an American's. Our history is different, our world view is different and even our basic concepts of liberty are different IMO. We Aussies shouldn't overlay our cultural beliefs / norms on them - that would be to deny them the freedom they (and we) cherish so much. We are not better than them nor they us. We're just different.
