Hi Mick, you don't say what settings you used but if your Mintron is like mine it's easy to kill the sensitivity.

In the main menu choose sense up - off, ALC/ELC to ALC, AGC to off. Go into the ALC submenu, there you should see shutter settings. You can manually choose from 1/100 to 1/12000 of a second. I can kill a full moon at 1/12000 sec at f5 so Saturn should be no problem.

That should work unless your menu structure is different. If so post pics of the menu and I'll see if I can help.
