Solar dynamo

Taken a few weeks back now, this 9 panel mosaic of Sol shows good detail and some polar crown prominences in the southern hemisphere. This is a theory that when polar crown prominences occur that solar maximum has been reached for that hemisphere. These prominences were visible in the northern hemisphere late last year and there has now been a corresponding movement of sunspots in the northern hemisphere to the equator. All the while the southern hemisphere is slow to catch up. It may lead to a double peak in the cycle, but time will tell.

For now I will take what activity comes my way and enjoy making these mosaics.

Image is an 80% resample of original detail. Imaging camera is a Point Grey Research 2.8mp camera 1932x1452 pixels.
