"Perfect Storm"
I walked into Lake Narran with my mate Steve one apparently fine day. We spent much longer than anticipated in there and were at risk of running out of daylight walking out. We saw this incredible anvil and thunder storm forming. We watched it develop as we walked out but we didn't have torches and were disciplined and kept walking. There came a point a few minutes before sunset when we were crossing this claypan. We decided the light was as good as it was going to get so we stopped and gave ourselves a 5 minute shutterfest.
I captured this pano then we continued our rapid march back to the car. We reached it just as twilight was ending. My 4wd was dark grey and we could barely see it as we approached. We then drove down to the sealed highway at Brewarrina staying ahead of the rainstorm before it would have washed us out. The rain hit minutes after we hit sealed road.
