Thanks MarK! I agree a better deterrant is neccesary but I'm not sure that a barbed wire fence is the answer, those that decide to jump wouldn't be too concerned about a few cuts and scratches, plus the rest of us would not be able to enjoy the views.

There are a few emergency phone booths with trained people on the other side ready to speak to you, I'm certain that if you picked up that phone it would automatically tip off the police to take a look around. They have also just recently installed CCTV cameras along the pathways, unfortunately these only record events and are not being monitored, so they're not a solution either.

I had a friend that jumped of the Harbour Brigde, barbed wire fence in place and CCTV. The family were allowed to watch the footage as he looked around jmped the fence and took the leap.
