first off axis guided test with the moon nearby
Finally got an off axis guider on tuesday and set it up using the moon to get both cameras parfocal. then thought i'd see if i could get it to work despite the 1/2 moon high in the sky. managed to take 2 x10 minute subs of M42 at iso200 , then darks and stacked the result in DSS with flats and biases. I was taking the picture to see how well it could track , so chose 10min subs at iso 200. The resulting picture shows the abscence of data due to only two subs and lots of light pollution due to the close proximity of the moon , but shows the off axis guiding was working quite well with the focal length of the SW ED80 , stars nice and round , and the colours quite nice with the nex5. will practice some more , then setup the guider with the C9.25.
