Best thing to do is 'sneak up on it' Roger re finding it at 2X. I always make sure both mount axis are locked, find & centralize target without the barlow, alter camera setting so the target is very bright. Gingerly take the camera out, slide barlow in & replace camera. Hopefully you'll see an out of focus donut, & simply refocus.
