Behold the centre section which I was intend to scrap looks like a beautiful solid steel rod perfect for a super heavy duty part for an EQ mount I was also considering to build.

Well "fair suck of the Savlon" I am going to be busy for the rest of my life.

Well done Malcolm I work in the coal mining industry (Chpp and coal loader )for thirty years and never though of use a convey return roll for a pier .
At the coal loader we had a 1.8 m belt the return would be ideal for a pier
