Hi Colin, the material trailing away to the upper right reminds me of similar views obtained from many of the Leonid fireballs in 1998 and 1999. The trains lasted up to 15 minutes or more for some observers and distorted into all sorts of weird and wonderful shapes before dissapating.
After Effects seems ideally suited for the job.
