If a "posse" turned up at my home I would deem them to be trespasses and deal them accordingly, FYI this action would be seen as theft by the police and the courts and a "posse" would arrive at your door, all in matching clothes.
Contact your local police explaining the situation and express your concerns for BM's wellbeing, let them deal with it, a letter to the appropriate Dept at UWA would not be wasted (see my earlier post).
