Jupiter occultation - images, animation & AVIs

Here's some of my offerings for the Jupiter occultation last Monday night. Luckily I had my webcam with me - my poor old battered 400D died early Monday morning, also killing my primary plan of using DSLR through 10.5/1100 mirror lens.

First attached image is a mosaic of several shots taken with NexImage through 4.5" f8 reflector. I've kept the orange 'Bushfire Moon' colours, quite dramatic to the naked eye as well as the camera. Second is an animation showing the disappearance of Jupiter behind the unlit limb of the Moon.

Third is a badly seeing & smoke-affected image of a re-emerged Jupiter off the lit limb of the Moon. A thin band of heavy cloud obscured the actual re-emergence unfortunately. No chance of imaging Jupiter's moons - I could not see them through the eyepiece at any stage and could only get the faintest trace of them in hugely over-exposed images in better sky prior to the occultation.

Finally, here's a link to two of the AVIs I obtained - smoke wasn't the only problem, my flimsy set-up was copping a fair battering from a gusty wind!
