oh sorry I misinterpreted your reply. And your explanation makes perfect sense - the ToUcam has it's pixels arranged in that fashion.
I don't see that recombining all 3 would make for a sharper image though, it'd be just like stacking less quality frames on top of the good frame. I capture the moon in black and white anyway so i'm not losing any colour detail.
